Helped raise money for the people in Uganda during Ramadan.
As we all know there are many countries around the world suffusing from poverty and drought as a cause of this there are many families going without clean water to drink. Many young women and children are having to travel miles and miles on foot to collect just even a small amount of water for their families.
Then there are those who, through no choice of their own, are having to wash and drink unsanitary water which increases their risks of getting severely ill and in some extreme cases lead to death. One of the countries that had come to our attention that was going through this crisis was Pakistan.
We as a group got in contact with human appeal to find ways to help. Human appeal is an non-profit organisation working across the globe to strengthen humanity’s fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster. Through the provision of immediate relief and the establishment of self-sustaining development programmes, they aim to invest in real, effective solutions.”
Being a successful charities organisation and seeing the work they had done across the globe we decided they were the best organisation at the time to entrust all the funds we had successfully collect through our local community and send through their aid workers to build a well were most needed in Pakistan. By the will of god and the help of this charity we were able to successfully build a fully functioning water well that provided clean water to hundreds of people in a town in Pakistan.
The calais jungle, officially known as camp de la Lande was a host to thousands of refugees that had fled from their war torn countries.
Refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq and many more countries had taken these life threatening journeys with their families and small children across treacherous seas in desperation and hopes of a safer life. Seeing how these refugees and migrants where living in this former landfill turned shanty town really broke our hearts and we decided to lend them a helping hand and do what we could. With the help and support of our local community we were able to collect a van full of supplies and donations such as clothes, duvets shoes and many more.
We were able to distribute these supplies across the jungle to many of the refugees. When visiting the refugee’s camps we are able to listen to their stories and we realised how these people were once just like us with beautiful families, warm cosy house and successful jobs. We quickly realised the realities of this world and how one minute you can have it all and the next it can all be gone, with a blink of an eye. We thought we were going to help them but left with a great big lesson that nothing truly is forever.
The refugee’s warm welcome and appreciation of life despite being in their situation was overwhelming and life changing. We were filed with gratitude and humbled by this blessed opportunity.
Throughout the years we have had many blessed opportunities to help support other charities organisation, forgotten women was one of theses charities.
Forgotten women is a charity run by women for women, dedicated to helping women around he world in crisis. It is a charity set up after witnessing first-hand the ‘sex for aid’ and manipulation of women in vulnerable situations. Their vision is to see
“a world where every woman is given the opportunity to live a life free from humiliation, poverty and abuse. A world in which women are free to preserve their dignity, health, well-being and economic independence.”
We are passionate about serving humanity, and also being an all women’s group we wanted to make a difference to help lift others. Seeing the amazing work Forgotten Women did inspired us to support them in anyway we could.
We decided to put together a local fundraising event to help support forgotten women in there future projects. We were able to successfully raise money with the help and support of family, friends and loved ones. This also gave us an opportunity to get the entire community and all the surrounding communities together and unite for a great cause. The event was filled with stalls from around the world from foods to clothes, jewellery and many more. We got all the kids involved with fun arts and crafts, to bouncy castles, games and more. It was a day filled with joy as families got together for a great cause.
