We put on a community play to raise funds for the Refugees in Lebanon, and we did this by selling entry tickets and a donation box.
The play script was written out to help educate the public about the struggles people are having to go through on a daily basis but still trying to stay positive and strong. The story line we demonstrated how helping ones neighbour and community can help save lives.
The feed back that we had received from the audience was heart warming and we had been advised to put on more future events as not only the adults took something away but they said also there children had to.
It is not hidden that Syria which once was a prosperous place known by Archaeologists to be one of the original civilization, Syria was one of the most ancient on earth, where some of the first people on earth practiced cattle breeding and agriculture.
This once flourishing place has now become a war torn country ripped of its beauty with its people fleeing for their lives and adding to what amounts as the biggest refugee crisis since World War II.
The destruction and struggles that the Syrian people are going through has not been hidden from us. Seeing the horrific scenes on the news and through social media platforms it motivated us to help however we could. We got together as a team and with the help of the local communities and businesses and put on a local fundraising event.
Through this event we were able to raise enough funded to provide aid to the people of Syria who were in dyer need of any support we could give them…
As a group we came together with an idea of creating our every own version of I’m a celebrity get me out of here! we got women and children involved and put them in teams to have a friendly competition against each other. It was an event filled with fun, laughter, slim and many creepy crawlies.
We put our own little twist to it we got everyone attending to dress up as a jungle animal of their choice. Through all the fun and games we were also able to make people aware of the increasing refugee crisis that was growing vastly in Lebanon, where young women and children were being forced towards trafficking and prostitution so they could get money to feed their struggling and starving families. This was truly and outrageous crime and we wanted to help wherever we could. When the community came together hearing these horrific stories, generously donated came in to helps these families. We successfully able to hand deliver aid to these people through family members that were located out in Lebanon.
With kids today getting lost in social media in their day to day lives, young girls are being effected though bulling and struggling with mental health while others battle depression and anxiety.
It was important for us a group to lift the new generation of girls and show them that they are powerful and beautiful just the way the are, by helping them to rebuild and reconnect them with young girls in the same situation as them. Also this was an event that mothers could come along and support their daughters and help strengthen the relationship they should have with each other.
Being strong, independent Muslim women ourselves and choosing through our own freewill to cover our beauty and modesty we often find that there are not many events suitable for us women and we are often forgotten about. We as a group came together and put on a glam night event that was exclusively for mothers and daughters that allowed mothers and their young daughters to get all glammed up.
The event was filled with food and fun events were we where able to build each other up and rebuild and strengthen the bond between mothers and their daughters. A night was filled with inspirational stories, laughter and joy. Not only was this a night to remember but also we were able to collect a generous amount of donations to help supported the crisis in Yemen. With the funds raised we were able to help support those in dyer need in Yemen. The funds went towards providing food supplies, clothes and essential packs for families in Yemen.
